Hi there,
Is there a way to generate a CV gate by an audio signal in Numerology ?? I want to create midi sidechain effects and send out midi CC to hardware synth on certain audio events (drum kick for example). Thanks for the inputs! |

Use the Envelope Follower module (in the Audio Processing module group). It converts an audio signal to CV, and allows you to adjust that conversion using attack and release rates. For something like a drum hit, I would start with a very short attack (0 or 1 ms), and a decay around 10 ms. It might help to add a Dynamics module before the Envelope Follower to compress the drum signal and increase it's level -- in order to get a stronger CV output.
Then, if you want a proper gate signal -- i.e. on and off, feed the CV out from the Envelope Follower into a 'Binary Op' module (N4 Pro only), with the "greater than" operation, and a second operand of say 0.5. Finally, feed the resulting CV into a CC Gen module to generate CCs, or even a Note Gen to generate note values, etc. Cheers, Jim |
