Default Reason 10 -- MIDI routing

There's a thread back a while in which we discovered that MIDI cannot be sent out of N4 (or any other VST) in Reason 9.5.

Has that limitation been rectified in Reason 10? (If not, it makes Reason a very rare bird indeed.)

Default Reason 10 -- MIDI routing

I've received a note from Reason support saying VSTs do not output MIDI in Reason 10.

Yesterday, I had posted a comment on a rather good Youtube video about using VST in Reason; the response from the producer was that VST non-audio output would likely be introduced soon. He seemed to be one of the insider contingent that tends to form around products, for tutorials, etc.

As you might know, the internal, non-audio signalling done in Reason is not MIDI and is called 'CV.' Sound familiar? Reason's sequencers send 'CV' data to its synths and use 'CV' for modulation. A 'CV' stream to a VST synth, e.g., a Reaktor instrument, behaves like a MIDI stream, makes sound. The VST wrapper in Reason does not have MIDI in, only CV in -- as well as the audio in/out plugs.

I'm a long time fan of getting away from MIDI toward a data representation that is more... granular. Doing so opens up, for example, more convenient alternative or custom tunings.

I'm sure a developer will see a whole, under-the-hood, can of worms with this. Not to mention a relatively small opportunity in terms of market. But I live in hope none-the-less.
