Default Euclidean Rhythm generation

It would be rad if the sequencer modules could do auto euclidean rhythm generation. The algorithm is pretty simple and is concisely spelled out by this article:

http://cgm.cs.mcgill.ca/~godfried/pu...ions/banff.pdf

If we forget about gate length (or assume that all gates will be equal during the generation, and we can tweak them later), I think it could be a very intuitive and helpful feature for composition!

The parameters would just be: (On hits, Total Hits, Rotation value). That gives you every possible euclidean rhythm possible.

I am requesting this because of RuinWessen's excellent MIDI Command box / software for the machine drum that utilizes the technique. Best sequencer tool I've ever used.

A Euclidean generator is on my wish list -- it would be under a "generate" option, a companion to "evolve"....

Cheers,
Jim

Default Manuell Euclidean Rhythms

Hello,

here are all the Euclidean Rhythms from E (2,1) to E ( 16/15) for a GateSeq.
You have to unzip the included file. Then you have a folder with all this Euclidean Rhythms as exports from GateSeqs. You can use the Import Module function in the Stack menue to load a GateSeq with the selected Euclidean Rhythm. I included all possible variations with out taking care of the dublicates. To rotate the Euclidean Rhythm please use the Shift right/left buttons at the GateSeq.

For more information please visit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euclidean_algorithm

All this Euclidean Rhythms were made by hand, so their may be errors by making the calculations or setting up the GateSeq.
If you find something please let me know.

best
jue

PS: A list with all included Euclidean Rhythms is in the folder.

Sorry I am a noobie.. How do you route The Gateseq to a soft synth? It seems the Gateseq does not have midi out.

Apologies for the slow reply -- this one slipped through....

There are two ways to use the Gate Seq w/ a plugin:

- Feed it's output into a NoteGen module, then send MIDI from the NoteGen somewhere. -- Usually you'll want to use an Interval Seq as well, for pitch.

- Feed the Gate Seq into a ParamMod to modulate a parameter -- typically something of the "on/off" variety.

Cheers,
Jim
