Default How do you handle incremental MIDI control?

Hi Guys,

I'm wondering how other Numerology users handle external control gear that sends incremental/decremental MIDI data? (2's Complement)

Since Numerology doesn't allow this, and it is used on a lot of hardware, I'm thinking that maybe you could set up some kind of software patch to convert the 2's Complement data into Absolute CC data that Numerology can handle? Any suggestions? MIDI Pipe users? Plogue Bidule?

Yes, I did and that's whay I'm so eager now to get my MIDI mixer up as a seconde controller for Numerology (besieds the Push #1). Yesterday I forgot to chose that MIDI mixer as the stack MIDI input and that was why I didn't get the new "Steinberg & Numark controllers (use "Rel-Inv")" thing to work. Today, after a few hours sleep, I realized my human error and now it's working here. So, my bad, and sorry about the early panic attack! :-)

One issue though: When controlling a parameter like for example the "Gate Adj" (MonoNote Seq) I can only sweep half of the range. Not all bad, I can live with 0 - 50 %, but I'm wondering why that is so?

Hello,

The Gate Adj at the MonoNote needs a value of 2 for the full setting off 100%. As the MIDI to CV sends out only a max volume of 1 you could get only 50% at the Gate Adj. You need to switch a Binary OP within the signal path that has a setting of 2 at input B and Multipy as Operator while input A is the MIDI to CV In.
Now you should get the desired full Gate Adj.

Yes, thanks a lot! That is working like a charm now. The Binary Op seems to be the way to use in/de-crementary knobs.

Right now I got stuck at finding a setting that works for targeting the "Velocity Adj", since that parameter in Numerology's MonoNote Seq uses the range "Min -1 to Max 1".

I'll look into a plan-B to find a way of converting that CV to MIDI CC# data that can be MIDI learned to the MonoNote Vel.Adj. knob.

Please don't worry about that - I stumbled over the simple solution of daisy-chaining two Biops :-) Useful trick to use a line of Biops to scuplture the needed range to drive a module.
