Default "Detach from Timeline" in Rewire slave mode

Is it possible to use Numerology in Rewire slave mode but not sync to the host DAW's song position? There is a sync mode available in Renoise that does this. I use it for recording live jam sessions and experimentation into Ableton Live, and I find it fantastically useful. I would love to be able to use Numerology in a similar way. The basic idea is that Rewire sync in this mode works more like MIDI clock than timecode ... the exact song position is ignored, essentially. But you retain the zero-setup ease of use and handy audio routing that Rewire provides.

I think this feature would be particularly good when working with looping chains of presets, where the "transport position" seems a bit of a fluid concept anyway. (It's nice that Numerology has a timeline, I almost never use it ... the preset chains seem to me like more of a native idiom, if that makes sense.)

Here's a link to the Renoise docs where this feature is described:

...and a thread from the Renoise forums where it is first requested and discussed. Some of the pros and cons of the idea, as well as some implementation concerns, are gone over:

That is indeed an interesting idea -- I have several timeline updates (and some tweaks to the preset playlist) in mind, so I will look at that as well -- though it would take quite some re-thinking of several things...

Fantastic! Any attention the preset playlist gets is good news in my book, it's a great (and very unique) part of the experience of using Numerology, at least for me. Really looking forward to seeing where development on it goes in the future.
